Bryant HVAC Team Gears Up For Bike to Beat Cancer
(Louisville, KY) 2 in 5 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. If you are doing the math, that’s 40%…or almost half of us.
To combat the situation, Bryant Heating & Cooling is putting together and sponsoring a team to ride in the Bike to Beat Cancer. It’s a cycling event that will take place on September 24, 2011 and will have teams pedaling through the scenic Bluegrass countryside. Funds raised by the event go to benefit the Norton Cancer Institute which is a leading provider of cancer care in the Louisville and Southern Indiana areas.
Norton’s goal is to ensure help for individuals and families in the region conquer cancer by offering them programs, services and advanced care.
This is the third year Team Bryant has participated in the ride. In 2010, The Bryant Heating & Cooling Team had a goal to raise $26,200….but in the end they exceeded this and raised $33,712.70…that’s $7,512.70 over their goal. “This year, we plan to do even better,” said Jason Schembari, Team Co-Captain.
The Bike to Beat Cancer is a one-day bicycling event through Kentucky’s scenic countryside that begins and ends at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville. There are three options for riders: 35, 65 and 100 miles which includes the Texas Roadhouse Afterburn.
The Bryant Team is involved because as Anthony Schembari says, “We know that cancer is too big a disease to ignore. It affects everyone, maybe you, me, our parents, kids, siblings or friends. Sadly, maybe all of the above. By riding in this event we are doing something about it. We’re rolling closer and closer to the end of cancer. It’s an awesome triumph in a physical sense and emotionally as well.”
